Interests

I have always loved music and have been playing clarinet since fourth grade.  In high school, I played clarinet in marching band during my freshman and sophomore year and was the drum major during my junior and senior year.  At JMU, I learned to play saxophone and marched in the Marching Royal Dukes for three years.  My favorite experience with the Marching Royal Dukes was marching in the 2008 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. I continued to play clarinet in the JMU concert band.

In addition to music, I also love to travel.  In high school, I traveled with a concert made up of members from Virginia and New Jersey to Germany, Austria, Italy, France, and Switzerland.  It was very exciting to meet new people, learn about new cultures, and communicate through the universal language of music.  Another of my favorite places to visit is San Diego, California.  I love going to the famous San Diego Zoo and visiting all of the beautiful beaches.  My sister and I also enjoy visiting amusement parks.  We especially enjoy Busch Gardens, Williamsburg because it not only has great rides, but excellent food, creative shows, and beautiful scenery.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading. I especially love science fiction novels.  My favorite author is Michael Crichton.  I have read a number of his novels but my favorites include Timeline, Jurassic Park, and his early medical thrillers.  I also enjoy romance novels by Meg Cabot and the Harry Potter series.
